SESSION DETAILS
scheduling
The Dancing Heart experience includes a pre-session consultation, a portrait session and an ordering session. A limited number of sessions are booked per week to ensure dedicated attention and personal service is given to each client. Please contact me as early as possible to book a session; we typically schedule sessions a month or so in advance; holiday session fill up quickly. A signed portrait agreement and the session fee are required to hold a date - both are due within 5 business days of scheduling).

pre-session consultation
To understand your vision for portraits and to get to know you better, a 30-minute pre-session consultation takes place over the phone or in person if preferred. We’ll discuss your portraiture needs, custom design for specialty products, location and clothing in order to tailor a personalized session for your family.
clothing
Choosing what to wear for your session is an important step in preparation. My clothing rule – be comfortable! I love colorful portraits and think fun, trendy clothes adds personality to your portraits. Avoid logos and busy patterns. There are several options for coordinating group sessions we can discuss during the pre-session consultation. The sky’s the limit—tailor your clothing choice to reflect your style and character. And if your family enjoys going barefoot, we love seeing toes – especially little ones!
location
On-location, outdoor settings are what make our portraits so unique. Natural light is the most beautiful, flattering light available. A familiar place where your children are comfortable adds a certain warmth and life necessary to create enchanting portraits. Your home and yard maybe the perfect location for a session; or choose a park, beach or another spot that’s special to your family. If you’re not sure where to go, we have a few favorite spots around town we can suggest.
Maternity and newborn sessions are traditionally held in the privacy of your home. A black backdrop is available upon request if a “studio” look is preferred for these sessions.
portrait session
Sessions last 1-2 hours and are fun, relaxed and casual. I cater the pace of the session around little ones, allowing for diaper and clothing changes, feedings and snacks. I often engage children through play, which allows me to capture a child’s true spirit. I shoot an unlimited number of images, avoiding shots that are overly posed or rushed, and present you with the best images from the session.
ORDERING DETAILS
ordering session
Within two weeks of your portrait session, I’ll present my work in person during an ordering session in your home which typically lasts 2 hours. You’ll have the opportunity to review portraits in both print and electronic format. This provides a chance for us to review my creative vision for your portraits and an opportunity for me to assist in creating coordinating wall collections, discuss custom design work and show product samples. Since the print orders will be taken during the session, it’s helpful to create a list of the types and quantities of prints you plan to order - consulting other family members if necessary – prior to the meeting.
payment
Payment in full is required at time of ordering. Checks and credit cards through PayPal are graciously accepted.
print delivery
Print delivery is 2-3 weeks. Specialty items may require more delivery time.
online proof gallery and slideshow
Online proof galleries and slideshows are posted at the time of the ordering session and remain active for 30 days. They can be extended upon request for $25 per week.
image archiving
Images will be archived 30 days after your ordering session and will be held for 1 year. Images can be retrieved for reordering with a minimum order of $150.
price increases
If prices increase, the pricing at time of booking will apply. Orders placed 30 days after proof presentation will be priced at the new set prices if a price change has occurred.
return policy
Due to the custom nature of portrait photography, all orders are final. Your satisfaction is our highest goal, so we will work to ensure you are delighted with your prints.
